I once heard that if you took all the money in the world, from the rich and the poor and divided it up equally among all the people in the world, that within a year, the money will go right back into the hands of those who had it in the first place. In other words, the wealthy will regain their wealth, and the poor, sadly will revert to poverty. Some of us may have read or heard that it is not uncommon for lottery winners of significant sums to become broke within 5 years, some having even less money than they started off with.
What do you think is the reason for this? Could it simply be bad luck? Or is there a deeper phenomenon behind this? Thomas Tusser said "a fool and his money are soon parted". Biblical Proverbs refer to using wisdom in managing finances. I ask you [First Name], why stick to matters of money only? What is preventing us from using wisdom in every area of our lives? What is preventing us from "thinking" into our decisions instead of doing what we have always done?
Research says that most human beings operate on auto pilot 96% of the time....this means that a typical person is fully conscious and aware only 4% of the time i.e. for only 1 in every 25 decisions made. The rest of the time, 24 out of 25 decisions, we are just doing what we are accustomed to. In other words, we do not think, we just act out of habit.
I have read that 2 % of the people in the world think, 3% think they think and 95% would rather die than think. And I am not talking here about mental activity. I am talking about really examining the factors that are contributing to our results and asking ourselves the hard questions needed to change them. Sounds like hard work? I suppose it is which is why so few of us do it.
Socrates says that "the quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to the quality of questions he is prepared to ask himself". Hard questions force us to think and thinking into our actions gets us better results.
The successful people in the world understand this which is why they hire professionals to ask them the questions that they find hard to ask themselves.
So my friend, if you are not happy with the results that you are getting in your life or your business today, if you want to be more successful, then I encourage you to do the hard work. Think about what you are thinking, and think about what you are doing. As a professional coach, I can ask you the hard questions you are reluctant to ask yourself to help you achieve the quality of life that you want. I can truly help and I am just a click or email away.
Thoughtfully
