When I think about where I was in June of 2019, it's like a scene out of a romantic comedy. Except there was no romance and very little comedy; actually there was irony, which for me was funny. It was ironic because just about a month and a half prior, I'd been released from a corporate environment that I can only describe as being a "Trump like" regime…yes, not pretty. I laughed at myself because I knew I wanted to leave, so with that in mind you'd expect if I got my wish, I'd have a plan right? Well it didn't quite happen that way.
Knowing you're meant for more is a gut feeling. Similar to when you're about to do something you know you probably shouldn't. It's as if you can actually see yourself in a whole different reality, almost as vividly as your present reality. The only catch is, seeing the finish line is easy, but it's the roadmap to get there, that requires less dreaming and more planning.
Fast forward to July of 2020 and the global conversation is covid-19 among other things, and the last thing I want you to do is slow down. As a matter of fact, I want you to step on the gas even more so I've decided to host a summit designed to help you build a road map to build the personal brand and business you want to create for yourself. I know exactly what it's like to leave the cocoon of a job and have to navigate and wonder "what do I do now?" This is why I have assembled 36 of the best business and brand professionals to share their knowledge with you so that you can spend less time wondering and more time doing. Here are some of the "what next?" questions we'll answer for you at the Brandprint Summit.
1. Start with you
Anyone who is looking to make a major move in their life needs to be, above all, mentally prepared to do so. Even if you have tonnes of physical resources, if your mind, which is your most valuable asset isn't ready you won't make any progress. The four horsemen of the stagnation apocalypse i.e. procrastination, self-doubt, indiscipline and inaction will always be in your life. Your first course of action should always be to audit your life and really take a close look at what has been stopping you. You also have to think about what can possibly get in your way of success and create systems to increase your chances of hitting your goals. Believe me, if you don't have a routine or a system, you'll experience burnout early in your journey.
2. Talk about your beliefs, passions and what you can do
Initiating a conversation where you sell yourself can be intimidating at best and terrifying at worst. What do you say? Who do you talk to? Who will actually listen? These are all valid questions and they require time and thought to figure them out. Building a personal brand means you have become clear on what your message is and why you're unique. I don't mean that you need to become someone different, you just need to understand and embrace the features, qualities and attitudes that make people have a "scroll stopping" moment when they see you on their screen
3. Turn them into believers
Admittedly, making a loud noise is one thing, but ensuring that you're the symphony people actually want to hear over and over again takes some effort. Converting your thoughts into valuable content is the tried and true way to not just get people's attention but to keep them coming back for more. A solid brand and profitable business isn't just about who you can catch the first time. It's also about those who keep coming back and telling others to the same. Turn people into advocates to your brand by building a relationship with your community. Show up consistently and share information that is useful long after your video has been used and your post has been read. You can also do this by selling a service that changes their life.
4. Build a system
Venturing into anything new will come with its own set of growing pains. While you see yourself getting better personally and professionally you can't manage anything effectively without systems. If mind-set is the internal key to unlocking greatness, systems and routines are undoubtedly are the external keys. Technology has made it so much easier for us to not just access tools, but has brought us closer to people in every corner of the world. Our growth means tapping into automation and outsourcing when necessary.
